Dimension text above and below dim line

I have seen it posted once, but cannot find the answer. Does anybody
know how to edit mtext so that there would be one line of text above the
dim line and another line of text below?
    TIA

    TEXT\XTEXT

    The key is the "\x"

(BTW, X must be capitalized, as in the first example)

Many thanks - thought I could remember it, but getting old.

Walt, the only caveat is, you can't move the dim text anywhere away from the
default position when you do this, or it breaks the dimension line.

You can use DIMTEDIT Left/Center/Right options for a limited set of
    positions.
Wish there was more flexibility, though.

Thanks, David! At least the left and right options give us two more
    possibilities besides home.

And I wish it would work (above/below) on leaders, such as diameter or radii.
    Oh for R12.

I wish you could move it, without it popping above the line. Must be too hard for AutoCAD to fix!!

    First, I don't use AutoCAD's built-in mtext editor.
I hear it's much much improved over the R14 version, (I would hope so).
Still, I'll continue to use TextPad, thank you.

At any rate, I say this because I don't know if that might be (part of) the
    problem.
    But maybe not.

Another possibility - are you trying to edit the text INSIDE the properties
    box on the Contents line?
If so, I'm wondering if you need two backslashes (ie \\P rather than \P) for
    the paragraph returns?

Seems like this causes some difficulties with respects to the FIND command
as well. It has difficulties with finding dimension text override strings
after a \X or \P modifier (and you can unwittingly mangle them (by losing
the subsequent text), if you're not careful).
IOW, WE type \X or \P - but AutoCAD automatically converts these modifiers
    to be \\X or \\P.

But I don't know if any of the above relates to the particular difficulties
    you mention.

    Best regards,
    David Kozina

Hi Walt, C Witt, David Kozina and Tom Smith,

Nice to see we are still learning. I've attached a zipped file with two
jpg's showing editting of Mtext and editting of Dimension Mtext.

When I just move above the text, Mtext or Dim and add or -ditto- below the
text and add, no problem. But if I try to type it all on one line (as it is
shown in the property box), it don't work as shown in the dimension
    example???
    What am I doing wrong?

To All Participents In This Post:

There's a similar question and slightly different responses I just looked at on CADCHAT.COM.

Might clear up some dangling issues if you care to look.....
