    Read only???????

My company has just recently bought a windows 2000 server, and I'm trying to copy all my Autocad files over to it from our old Windows NT 4.0 server. I thought just plug the new server in to the network and copy the files over and everything would be fine. WRONG!!!! Now when someone tries to open a autocad file, it says the file "is currently in use or read only. Would you like to open the file read only." I checked the read only attributes, and it's not checked. WHAT'S WRONG???????? PLEASE HELP!!!!

His your hard driver on the server using NTFS file system? If so, you could check the Security tab under the file property within the server... check for permission. Also you could check for the permission under the share.

I checked the permissions, and they were fine, could it have anything to do with going from windows NT to windows 2000??

Hum.... guess it's gonna be better to call your resseller at this point and ask him to see you, he sould be able to fix that in no time.
