    Hello,
I tried to install acad2000 on my computer. But he won't accept it.It is not
the right OS he said.Only with 95 and 98, ME.
Is there a posible way to run it with XP. I read some where to change the
compability(difficult word !!).Where can I do this. The program is not
    installed on the computer.
    Thanks

What is the true story on running AutoCAD 2000 on XP Pro.?
    Can it be done?
    Yes
    Does it work right?
    Yes

Do you have to run it in 98 compatibility mode?
    No.
You may have to use 2000 compatibility mode to install and run it
    though.

    1) Make sure you are logged on as a local administrator.
    2) Try installing from the CD if you can't then try copying the CD to a
temporary directory on the HD and try installing from there.
    3) If you can't install from the HD, then set the compatibility mode on
    the
setup.exe file to windows 2000 and run the installation.
AutoCAD will now be installed for sure.
    4) Start AutoCAD. If you can't then you need to set the compatiblity
    mode
for the acad.exe file to windows 2000.

That should work. I've installed AutoCAD 2000 on several XP Pro and Home
machines without any problems and without having to install or run it in
    compatiblity mode.

You do need to be either an administrator of the machine or a power user
    to
use AutoCAD on Windows 2000 or XP. If you're policies are against this
    you
can change permissions in the registry to allow Users to change the
    Autodesk
    keys under HKCU\Software and HKLM\Software.
