    survey units won't stay put.

When I start new drawing (AutoCAD 2002) the units stay where I wan't them
(survey units is my prefered standard) but if I insert a block that was
created with land development my units go to degrees minuetes and seconds.
I find this frustrating. is there any way to purge, dxfout, saveas to get
rid of nasty Land development stuff. or am I stuck change my units to what I
    want every 5 minutes .

    thanks
