    HiHo;
    A spline is a polyline.
    Use "pedit" and select Decurve to change to a ployline.

    Wrong. A spline is a spline and a polyline is a polyline. What you are
    talking about is a "splined" polyline.

    Use "pedit" and select Decurve to change to a ployline.
    PEDIT only work with polyline, lines and arcs, it doesn't work with splines.

    Autocad many times turns a splined poly line into a spline,
    and then it is hard/impossible to go back to the orginal polyline.
    Is there a way to prevent that behavior?

    Bert,

    A long time ago I archived the following answer:

    Save the spline as a version12 dxf file then DXFIN it back into the
    drawing.

    I hope this is still possible with your AutoCAD version.
