    PASTE AS BLOCK

I am running ACAD 2004 on XP pro. When I "copy with base point" the pop up menu option to "paste as block" is sometimes shaded out.

If you type PASTEBLOCK, does it work?
What is it you are copying, can you identify the source?

The objects that I am copying vary. Typing "pasteblock" does the trick. Also, a co-worked discovered that if I have something selected on the drawing that I am pasting in, the option is available in the pop up menu. On the other hand, when I do not have anything selected, the option to "paste as block" is shaded out.
