    Question about Polar tracking

If I have Polar Tracking ON, Increment angle = 90 and Additional angles = 53 and Polar Angle Measurement = Relative to last segment, and draw a line at 90 degrees (straight up and down), should a new line drawn from the same start point as the first not snap at 143 degrees? If not, what does Relative to last segment mean?

This would depend on where you have "0" degrees set. Look under
Format-Units and then check on the direction button at the bottom of the box
that opens. This window will let you set Base Angle Settings.

    Interesting:

It works if you continue drawing a line from the start point or if you osnap past the midpoint of the first line but if you use
osnap prior to the midpoint of the first segment it treats the relative direction as if the line was rotated 180 degrees. Look at
the tooltip to see what is happening.

And if you don't use osnap, then it works relative to absolute direction.

    Thanks for that discovery.

    From "HELP" on polar tracking:

"Note: Additional angles are absolute, not incremental. "

    Also from the Help:

    Polar Angle Measurement
Sets the basis by which polar tracking alignment angles are measured.

    Absolute

Bases polar tracking angles on the current user coordinate system (UCS).

    Relative to Last Segment

Bases polar tracking angles on the last segment drawn
