    dimensioning

I´m trying to do two consecutive dimensions. i would like a them to be a
solid dimension line with terminators, no breaks. I would like the
dimension text to be horizontal and to lie on the outside left or right of
the dimension self. Fyi, the dimension I´m taking is in the horizontal
already as it is along the x-axis.

Again, I would like the dimension to show up on the outside left, and
outside right of the dimension, inline.

I´ve made some adjustments in settings, but all I´ve done is either put the
dimension centered btwn the terminators or centered and the terminators on
    the outside of the dimension.

    Richard,

Here is a V7 answer. The V8 dialog setup may be a bit different.
    Open the dimension settings dialog.
Go to the Text section and set the Orientation to Inline.
Go to the Placement section and set Location to Manual. This lets you
dynamically position the text. You can also use the Modify Element
command to move the dimension text and other parts of the dimension
    after placing it.
