Linked Viewports

I use MV to creat a new viewport in paperspace. Zoom in window to a scale.
Make another viewport, and set the scale also.
When I double click in and out of each viewport the scale of each zooms to
extent?? It seems like the viewports are linked somehow.
Is there a system variable to control this.

Found it....UCSFOLLOW...system variable should be set to "0" in each
viewport.....
