    Assura file locking

    Dear all,

I have a issue with Assuras file locking mechanism.

After I repeat a LVS run for a specific cell Assura tries to
removes (with rm) the old run files, but there is a lock
on this files and for that the rm process hangs and can not
    remove this lock.
This results is that aveng hangs and I have to kill the rm and
aveng process then I have to exit form DFII
and then I have to remove this Assura run files on UNIX level with rm.

    Has anybody a glue about,
Where does this lock comes from?
    How to release it properly?
Do I miss to have a specific locking daemon running?
    If so, which?

    Thanks Bernd

    Bernd:
What is the error message you are getting?

If assura is using rm then why does rm work from the command line
    after you kill aveng?

    Do you have rm aliased?

    Eric,

What is the error message you are getting?
No error msg. Assura just hangs up, you can not use the GUI any longer.
rm is going to occupy the complete CPU.

If assura is using rm then why does rm work from the command line
    after you kill aveng?
I assume after I killed aveng the file locks were released somehow and I'm
able to remove the run files.

    Do you have rm aliased?
Yes, but this works for Assura 3.12 but not for 3.12 USR1
I'll file a service request today after some more investigations.

    Bernd
