Any Process Piping Guys Here-? |
|
|
Forgive me if this topic has been covered--questions about Autocad LT--
Is LT sufficient to use all day designing concrete, steel, vessels,
piping, etc.-? What about isometrics ("isos" and "spool sheets")-? I
do not need the 3-D capabilities (yet).
Are there good 3d party plug-ins with libraries of pipe fittings, ANSI
standard valves, etc-? Maybe some steel detailing software-?
As much as I'd love to get the $$$ version of AutoCad, the budget says
"keep it at a workable minimum" for now--
I need the program for just one machine; is it licensed for [ever]-?
I called an AutoCad rep yesterday and they realllly smelled money--made
me nervous--
Finally, I see LT on eBay all the time. Is this a smart way to buy if
the price is reasonable-?
thanks guys

If you know how to draw Isometrics and perspectives on paper then
the answer is yes - its only a drafting tool......
Re concrete and steelwork - invest time in creating symbols/blocks -
I have 300 - 400 concrete symbols that enable me to detail
RC Piles and Ground Beams at the rate of whooosh compaired
to how we use to draw by hand.
Don't forget the CAD mantra - Draw it once - use it again
Similar with steel - a block library for bolt holes, welding symbols
standard connection details, standards baseplate and head plate
details.
Check out IntelliCAD it's cheaper than AutoCAD and it will run lisp
routines - Lots of Lisp add on's out there for the taking...

BuZzY,
Found recently a 3D program on www.3designersmate.com.
It says it can draw more than 2000 different parts.
maybe this is something for you?
