2005 stand alone product activation questions |
|
|
Say I have say 10 stand alone serials.
Normally I have a netsetup to do a silent install on the workstations.
So one serial will be installed 10 times.
With 2005 can I contine to use network installs (not ADLM) to install stand alone seats?
If every station now requires its own unique serial due to product activation, how do
I use a network install with unique serials?

David,
You need to convert and merge your 10 serials to ONE serial
ask your reseller to do that
if you are under subscription you can email this service to switch you over
and they will send you a new auth. code
Next step is to have a dedicated shared storage space to install the flex_lm
and the license file (sent by email)
Then remake your deployment for network.
You can find more explanations in the guides (network admin...)
Hope this helps,
Kal

when you say "install the flex_lm and the license file" are you referring to using the ADLM and a .lic file? That would
imply a network license manager. I already have that and that is not what I am asking.
I have stand alone serials numbers. I want to make a silent install for AutoCAD 2005. How do I make a silent stand
alone install if I cannot use the same serial number for all my workstations.

David,
there are two ways to have a single S/N for 10 users:
1- Run the "networked" version of AutoCAD. That is where FlexLM comes in.
2- Convert your 10 standalone licences to a multi-seat licence for 10 users.
The second way is quite interesting:
- no cost implied as with moving from standalone to networked
- you can deploy from an administrative image, as for networked licence
- have only one S/N to manage.
Activation procedure knows your S/N is of type multi-seat, and allows enough
activations for all of your users.
