I just replaced my old HP5si printer at my office because the repair cost
was too much. Our new office printer is a HP8150N.

My problem is that the new printer doesn't want to let my lines merge option
work. I tested the printer through a system printer and set up a pc3 with
the system printer option and in neither instance can I see my line through
a shade.

I was able to see through my shades with the HP 5si and I didn't have to
worry about setting the draworder of the shaded line to back. My ctb files
are the same as before, the only variables that have changed are the printer
and its drivers.

We are running win 2000 on the workstations and use ADT 3.3. The printer is
set as a network printer. Our server is running on Linux and we use the
CUPS module version 1.1.17.

My questions are:
Has anyone run into this problem?
Is there a setting that I am over looking?
Is there a hdi driver that works with ADT and the HP 8150n that I can
download?

I will keep trying to resolve this issue and thank you for your suggestions
and help.

I figured out my problem. I was using the HP8150 PS driver instead of using
the
HP8150 PCL driver. I dont know the difference but it fixed my problem.

PCL = HP's Printer Control Language
PS = PostScript

Thanks, do you know the advantages and disadvantages besides the one I
encountered or should I metacrawler it? (oops, sorry I should have said
"google it")

PS does not do line merge, never has.
AutoCAD does not do PS, although if you are using R2004/5 I understand
gradient hatches look a lot smoother with PS output devices.
