Has anyone any suggestions re software for cut/ fill calculations. I'm in
the high end landscape sector and am looking for a system where you can feed
in the a drawing, point the software at the existing/ designed levels and it
will calculate the vols.

I use AutoCad2000

Hi Sam,

The cheapest is ezysurf from www.ezysurf.com (only $55.00).
Please see one of google posting for this:
http://groups.google.ca/groups?hl=en&lr=&threadm=TCFId.130267%24K7.85338%40news-server.bigpond.net.au&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26q%3Dezysurf%26btnG%3DSearch%26meta%3D
I tried the demo and it works.

Good Luck,

Autodesk's Land Design (or something like that) is presumed to also fit the
bill if you want to spend the money. For sure it would be the solution that
is most programmable. Other than Sam, that its me that needs to ask you for
information assistance.

Its been a long time since I last tested for my architectural registration
in Wisconsin. I stille have to take the Site Design exams and have no clue
what to study or where to find study materials for site design. Last time I
took the exams (early 1990's) the study materials were good for sh!t and I
can pass the exams if I am well prepared.

Do you have any idea what books or other information resources I should
start using?

I like Terramodel. It has really good slope design stuff in it that
you might find useful. Like anything you have to really watch watch
your ass when doing volume calcs., but it will do them accurately when
you tell it exactly the right things. It comes with a nice 3D
visualizer that for me is worth buying over acad just for this
feature. Tm does 3D naturally rather than reluctantly, as acad does.

Sorry Clinton
I don't think I can help you.
IBM based in the UK If you were her I would point you at the Landscape
institute. You must have a similar body for civil/land design

I work as landscape CAD technician and use Key Terra-Firma for this very
reason. We also use LSS for calculating volumes, and this works a lot easier
than KTF, although rather expensive (I think).
