I need to find out how to open up a Microstation .dgn file in my AutoCAD Map 2000i. I tried the process of selecting the Map pulldown menu, selecting Tools, then selecting Import. When I click on the .dgn file and click Open, nothing happens. Can someone give me some tips? Thanks!

The Autodesk Map Index can be accessed by the HTTP (web-based) interface at:

I have tried that route, too. When the map import box pops up, I browse to the desired .dgn file and when I hit 'proceed' it says that an error occured in preprocessing.

the .dgn file says it is a Microstation v8.5.0.64

Any more suggestions?

According to http://support.autodesk.com/Getdoc.asp?ID=TS68603 , you can
import "MicroStation version 5.x and 95 files" using Map2000i.

It's possible that your map version cannot import v8 files.

Can you get the DGN author to save it to DWG using Microstation?

Most likely your DGN format is higher than your version of MAP can handle.

Upgrade MAP or ask the sender to save down or save to a DWG for you.
