We have one work station that resets the paper size in the plot dialog box
to "Custom 1" instead of our usual default of "A3". All other computers in
our office don't have this problem. Looking in windows the paper size is set
to A3. Why does it change itself to Custom 1 instead of A3, and how can we
fix it?

You could check that the user doesnt have that printer set up as custom 1 in his printers properties setup - that might do it.

yes I have checked that, and he has A3

That usually happens when one user does not have the same exact setup as
others: different driver with the same name perhaps, or something similar.

The cure is to replace that one station plotting setup entirely for the
device (do you not have all of this centralized?) to match the others.
