Delayed return of network license |
|
|
I just got a call from my old office and they are having some issues with
FlexLM and R2005. They have ADT 2005 SP1 installed, with 15 licenses on the
network, FlexLM running as a Service. They are running into license limits,
but a look at server status shows that at least one machine is listed as
having a license, dispite the fact that that machine has been turned off for
the last two weeks. The machine in question is my old test machine back in
the server room, so I am sure it is not on, nor has it been.
So, has anyone seen an issue like this? At the very least,I would have
expected that license to be returned to the pool after the 15 minute time
out, but certainly after weeks of the machine being off.
Also, is there a way to force the server to recheck what licenses are
currently in use? Other than forcing the Service to stop, and restarting?
And lastly, what do people consider to be a good timeout value? Especially
for a 20 user firm with 15 licenses? I had thought 15 minutes would be fine,
but perhaps others have differing oppinions?
Best,
Gordon

I recommend 15 minutes for timeout and that you either restart the service
or the server to solve the issue.
