CAD users sometimes experience pain while working long hours on their
computer. If you are experiencing physical pain/discomfort in your arms,
shoulders or wrists while using CAD applications, you may qualify to
participate in a San Jose State University ergonomic study looking at
potential pain reduction approaches.

The study will include an initial ergonomic assessment, followed by a
one-month alternative working approach, and post-ergonomic assessment.

If you are interested in learning more, please post a reply or email the
study's Principal Investigator, J. Vansick at jvansick@email.sjsu.edu.

fyi, there have been so many studies on this it's funny, imho.

It's really just common sense:
1. Good posture (sit in a upright and comfortable position, don't
strain)
2. Stretch (any repetive and limited operation requires this)
3. Take breaks (and stretch)
4. and,.. listen to your body, if it hurts, don't continue doing it or
over do it, apply 1, 2 and 3.

...

I am glad you mention this...I ve got this dreadful pain just under my
wallet...get it with each new SW release....what I have found is that
yelling full blooded abuse at an imaginary programmer and waving my arms in
large forceful gestures relieves the tension at least temporarily...

Seems that sitting is bad for back pain.
Lie on your side .... that's best.
Next best is to stand or walk.

Now, about pain .. where's jb?

PRIO glasses did away with ALL of my physical computer pain issues.
Highly recommended. See <http://www.prio.com> First bought in 1996.
If I was famous, they would get a free endorsement from me.

I just got a new pair. Some things to be aware of:
--Most CAD jockeys will want a single-vision lens made to the
prescription resulting from the PRIO exam and not the standard
multi-vision PRIO lens
--Don't let D.O.C. do the exam
