Hi I have been away from the CAD (Acad,Microstation) work for while
but I have noticed that there are few users here or even on the
viecon.com groups. Is Microstation slowing down or there are just few
users who are actually using the product?

I have been an active Microstation user for several years before our
company moved its business to the GIS area. We have been using other
GIS softwares (not Geographics) since then.

I just wanted to ask that question because it is that time of year
again when we need to evaluate what software/hardware we are going to
purcahse for next year. I was surprised to see that the cost of
Microstation has not budged since several years ago.

thanks

Maybe there are just few problems with microstation in these days.

It's just this newsgroup that's pretty much dead. The
software/company is very much alive. Check out the newsgroups on
news://discussion.bentley.com
They are pretty active and I believe some bently people participate as
well.

MicroStation is alive and well but this board is slowly dying.....

Perhaps.

Hello,

Believe me, software will ALWAYS have problems. The day that software
have no more problems is the day that no one is using it.

But with so many cheap CAD softwares that are literary being given away
for free...I won't be surprised that Microstation's and AutoCAD share
of the market isn't being chipped away. Only DIE-HARD users will
continue to buy what $4,000 when you can get IntelliCAD for $179?

In fact, I'd say the Bentley forums are far more active now than this
group was at its peak.

And there is much more direct contact with Bentley people through
those newsgroups.

PMFJI, but for those who do not have NNTP access through a newsreader, there is also a Web interface available -- more information
regarding this is at http://selectservices.bentley.com/discussion/.

Jose,
1) its much more easy to use viecon where there are a lot of different
grups,
2) you do not have to read spam,
3) there are groups in other langauages,
4) and today Geographics is _much_ more robust solution then in first
version 5.5,

Best regrads,
Artur Krawczyk,
