Help: making holes in solids |
|
|
I am trying to create holes in solid (like drilling a hole in a block of
wood). I create the block, extract it, draw a cylinder and then extract that
as wll .Then I subtract the hole-but in shaded view it still appears
solid(as if a thin layer is covering the hole) although in wire view you can
see the hole is there. What am i doing wrong? I want to be able to see
through the hole in orbit mode, but it still appears solid.
Thanks for any help.

After creating the solid, u need to type or select subtract. The next step is to select the object, without selecting the area u wish to subtract. Then after u have selected the object hit the enter key and select the area u wish to subtract.
The only reason it would not work is if there is an open contour or ur lines are over lapping each other... |

In a older version of Autocad I had to make sure the cylinder I was going to remove was longer than the part that was staying. If the end of the cylinder lined up with the edge of the other object, it didn't come out well.
Of course this is probably not an issue now, now that it has been a year and a day since your original post.
