Our company will be purchasing a copier/printer/scanner for full size architectual prints. What is the BEST software to convert the scanned image/pdf to a .dwg which then can be easily manipulated.

I have played around with exporting from illustrator to .dwg but would like something specifically designed for the task, giving accurate line weights, and not just giving a bunch of splines. Accuracy is key.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I was playing around with some software like ABLE SOFTWARE R2V; ABLE VECTOR etc...

It starts with image input quality, as much I know whatever you use
will still need some cleaning/ touch up to do.

Let me know what (software) you find the best to use!

Good luck

i used GTX translation software at a previous employer. i only used it in a very basic manner, but i think it had much more capability that i was utilizing. you may want to look into that http://www.gtx.com/products/list.asp?grp=16

CAD Overlay by Autodesk. But its not exact (nothing will be since your trying to turn a raster file into a vector format). Remember this... I've seen people try to use these converted files for exact dimensions...... it never works out. I'd only use it if i had an older hand-drawn file that i wanted to use as a reference background.
