Hi all,

My return flight from LV on wed night has been cancelled!? I asked
them to reinstate the flight but havn't heard back yet. Assuming that
they wont (!) - I have the option to leave mid-afternoon on wed or wait
till thursday with the resultant higher hotel fees, missed work etc.

So, question is: In the past has the last afternoon been a case of
people packing and rushing to get home or cramming as much as possible
into a 3day conference?

Thanks,

Zander

The last two years I have attended the Wednesday afternoon sessions
were well attended. If the sessions are going to contain helpful
information for you I would plan on staying.

Last year I attended a class in the last session that was on weldments,
and the class was packed. The presenter was somewhat surprised, but
people said that they felt that it was worth hanging around and not
missing anything. As for me, I decided that I'm staying for the whole
thing.

It has been my experince that the conference starts dying down after
lunch on the last day as people rush to get to flights - maybe 20% But
that's jsut attendess - all the presenters are on full tiem to the end
fo the last session. The opportunity exists to stick around and cram
as much as possible into the last day - that's up to you. Last day
sessions can be real gems - new guys with new things to say are often
shoved into the last day (I see that there are a couple that seem very
interesting) and I understand they are planning on using the last day
for 'encores' of popular sessions.

If we were on the east coast I would fly home, but with a west
conference you are kinda stuck - either miss the last sessions or buy
an extra night in the hotel. I will be sticking around.

You could catch both parts of my presentation on product development even if
you left by noon, but I would recommend staying til thursday morning.

The Flamingo is also kid friendly. That's where we are staying.

The Barbary Coast seems to be the cheapest of the nearby hotels at $80 a
night. With tax, I think it came to $256 or so for 3 nights. I've never
stayed there, but the reviews seem to be pretty good. It's older and
apparently has a smaller casino, which is just fine by me. The only concern
I have right now is that they don't guarantee a non-smoking room, but they
say that 75% of the rooms are non-smoking.

I think the Flamingo came to $320 or so if we reserved it with our airline
tickets on Expedia.

I was able to get 5 nights at the Imperial Palace for $270 + tax
($54/night) ($300 total). I booked it thru Yahoo travel. The funny
thing is that I had seen this deal on Yahoo twice before, and figured
it would be there for a while. Then as I went to book it, it was gone.
Suprize suprize, there it was again today. So if anyone is still
looking, try Yahoo travel, and maybe they will release some more rooms
at that rate.

Just got the mailer for SW World outlining the conferances and
activities. The offsite event at LV Speedway sounds like its going to
be fun. From the brochure, we will be able to do either the NASCAR
experiance, or a drag racing experiance. That along with unlimitted
game, food, and drink in the arcade should make for a fun evening.

To those that have gone in the past, do the VAR's host anything for
their customers like a reception or lounge??

If anyone else books Imperial Palace, let me know. Im going alone, and
wouldnt mind having someone to walk over to Ceasars with each morning.
