i searched google and newsgroups, apparently this isn't a common problem.
I've run into it on multiple computers and multiple versions of autocad.

i have serveral programs that go to each layout tab, do something, go to the
next tab, do something else. actually this is a bigger problem because it
will crash if do the same thing manually, not just when runing a routine.

they all eventually crash. it used to crash with the "unwind exception"
error, recently it started saying "out of memory".

so i opened task manager and noticed that it crashes when i run out of
physical memory. when i change tabs it uses more memory that never gets
released, like this:

before acad open: 350 mb
open acad: 600 mb
chg tabs: 725 mb
chg tab again: 851 mb
chg tab again: 976 mb
chg tab again: 1.07 gb
chg tab again: 1.19 gb

on up to 2 gb, then crash

any ideas?

thanks, William Ogle

turn off layout cacheing in the options menu in autocrap.

its set to retain the info. this will cause crashing after a few layout
changes.. if you set autocad to "regen each layout" as it is click or
switched two. then the PF usage won't skyrocket

rock on
