I publish (batch plot) the drawings in model just fine. Here is the
problem. Example: The drawing details are in model, and the border is
in layout. The model and layout tabs checked. Publish the drawing and
the model prints without the border. The layplots won't plot. I get
message layout not initialized. Do the same as above, but ony check
the layout tab, and nothing plots. I have a page setup defined. I
have no problem printing a drawing in layout as long as I do one at a
time. Can anyone please help.

In your situation, there is no need to plot model space.

Create a viewport within your border in the layout(s)
Scale it (them) appropriatly.
Define a page setup for the layout(s), set it current.
Run PREVIEW to confirm your settings.

If you are plotting several layouts in one drawing:
Click on multiple layouts, then right click and choose Publish

If you are publishing multiple layouts from multiple drawings, run the
PUBLISH command, and proceed as you described above.

You might also look into Sheet Set Manager, which allows for one button
publishing after the initial set up.
