I've been using Autocad for a bunch of years but am a novice as respects
Paper Space and Viewports. I decided to try it out this morning and the
plot preview on my display looked perfect. I'm using 2005 under Win2k Pro
with loads of free disk space and 1.5Gb Ram.

However, to my 8 ½ x 11" printer, not so perfect. It was as if I were
looking at the entire model plotted at Extents (a 60" tall model) but
divided by 4 rectangular lines that I suppose represented the viewports.
The whole 9 ¾" wide rectangle was somewhat left of center -- plus there was
a small vertical strip at the right some ½" wide from top to bottom of
sheet. Inside this was my full scale plot of the two rightmost viewports.

I named this layout SmallSheet, assigned my HP 895cxi to it, then created 4
viewports in it. In each viewport, I then zoomed Center to certain key
drawing zones that I wish to test the looks of the colors there and defined
a 1XP zoom size so those entities would appear sized as if during final plot
to a large format printer. It looked so pretty and I was so proud. Even
the plot preview looked perfect

From SmallSheet I clicked the Print icon and all settings looked fine to
this novice. Under "What to Plot", I left it at Layout.

Can you spot anything that I should have done differently?

Oops! I just discovered 5 viewports and the large one mostly covered the 4
smaller ones. My blunder!!! Strike one, however, against the plot preview
since it showed all was well.
Sorry for the false alarm.
