Security System |
|
|
Our office just moved to a new location and our network service set us up. However, when we start to log onto AutoCAD we get this message:
"Security system (hardware lock or network license) is not functioning or is improperly installed."
Our network service guy is not familiar with AutoCAD, but he asked if our system had a "key" or "lock" attached to our tower? I did not see anything attached to the back tower that sounds like that device. Could there be another way around this? Does this sound like a hardware issue? Or, a software issue? Also, the server that our AutoCAD is on is attached to our main server. All of our PCs are attached to the main server also. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you may have a locked version which requires a hardware lock
(also known as a dongle) that attaches to the parallel port of the computer.
Looks similar to a printer connector about 2-3" long, may be gray or black..
Your printer or scanner is then connected to the hardware lock (if
required).
A server based system would require you to log into the system to aquire a
user license from the server.

dongles disappeared when 2000i came out I think. When 2000i came out they switched to a software licence
If it turns out you do have a dongle ~ check the order in which they are fitted if you have other connections in that port.

Hi Sevan,
which OS is used?
Single seat or Network licensing?
Which ACAD version?
For ACAD 2000:
Single seat : try the latest driver for the hardware lock:
http://www.safenet-inc.com/support/tech/sentinel.asp
Network: - Make sure that the correct "adesksys.dll" is used:
http://support.autodesk.com/getdoc.asp?id=DL154103
- Is the environment variable ACADSERVER correct?
ACAD 2000i:
Single: - Was the product installed by the "Administrator"?
- Are there any anti virus software active during installation?
Network: - Is your license server correctly configured?
- Nameresolution correct?
Regards
