Design Center & shortcuts |
|
|
I called up a folder location in the design center. The folder contains
several shortcuts to other folders. For some reason, i can only a see couple
of the shortcuts in the folder. I right-click in the design center and
select refresh and a couple more shortcuts show up. I right-click and
"refresh" again. Again i can view another shortcut. Why isn't it reading all
the shortcuts at once? Any why is it still not showing all the shortcuts in
the folder?

a network drive
"H:\data\work\"
based on your comment, i decided to see if copying the shortcuts to my local
C: would fix it. It did not...
I placed my shortcuts in
"C:\temp\work\"
The result is the same...

another test... all the shortcuts i have reference different work folders on
a network drive (our file server). But then i decided to replace the
shortcuts to a bunch of different folders located on my local C:
viewing all the shortcuts (even when the shortcuts themselves are on the
network) was instantaneous. So it seems that because the shortcuts
themselves are referencing different network paths, AutoCAD won't show all
the shortcuts in the DC. which sucks, because who works off of C: drive
anymore?? |

windows 2003 server, windows XP pro client network. network speed shouldn't
be an issue either.
Any theories Dean?

I forgot about the lone cadguy travelling the world with his trusty laptop
under his arm, and a bubble jet printer under the other. Making the world a
better place one drawing at a time...
my apologies to the network deprived out there...

So you have no issues with shortcuts showing up when they are referencing a
network? |

Nope.
I tried a few things to freak it out like creating mapped drives and so on,
but they all worked.
