Something has changed a setting and now I can't copy command
line text to clipboard. Tried everything I know of the fix
the problem without success. Anyone else had this problem?
Using Autocad r14 with Windows XP Professional.

you need to open up the "AutoCAD text window" (use F2) and copy it from
there..

I don't remember it ever being possible to copy right from the command line.

Yep. Has worked before but stopped for some unknown reason.

You cannot copy the Entity that is defined as Text to the clipboard?
Or you cannot copy the actual words in the text entity to the clipboard?

Can you copy say a LINE to the clipboard?

What exact procedure or commands are you using?
What "everything I know" would that be?

Can't copy text from the command line to clipboard. In the past, I was
able to invoke the distance command, copy the angle value to clipboard,
and rotate text or objects by pasting the angle value (from clipboard)
to the ddmodify dialog box. I believe new software installation or new
mouse software may have caused the problem.

Not sure about R14, but it works fine here in R2005.

Do you have ctrl+c and ctrl+v functionality with your setup in AutoCAD?

Ctrl+c, ctrl+v, and right click work fine when used in the graphic
screen. Right click has always worked (up to now) from the command
line.

My first effort to correct the problem will be to go back to the
previous version of Microsoft mouse IntelliPoint software. I think the
upgrade to the latest version created the problem.

Thanks, Dean, for your concern with my problem.

Respectfully,
Harold

Not trying to be facetious but perhaps a note pad and a pencil to jot down the values might be a workaround?

Or perhaps some vitamins that enhance short-term recall? (That's facetious!)

Takes too much time to write it down. I'd be willing to bet that you
could not remember a number with eight decimal places -- I know I
couldn't. Right click copy from the command line is a great time saver
and a real convenience when it works properly.

Right click copy worked before but something changed a setting that I'm
unable to determine at this point. I was just hoping that someone else
had experienced a similar situation and could help me correct it..

Thanks for the post Jerry. When everything was working
right, I could highlight text on the command line and copy
it to Windows clipboard with a right click. This was
useful, for instance, in rotating text to align with an
object drawn on an angle (a roof slope). I'm at my wit's
end to solve the problem. Had a similar problem sometime
ago when a keyboard logger, running in the background, would
cause Autocad to crash when doing the
"right-click-copy-to-clipboard" thing.

It's really handy when it works correctly. I think a new
software installation, not associated with Autocad, might
have caused the problem.

You don't have to copy from the command: line - press F2 and copy from
the window - it goes into windows and can be pasted anywhere.

Thanks for the suggestion Walt, but that won't work either.
After the "right-click-copy-to-clipboard" I try to
"right-clip-to-paste" to the Mtext editor and the "paste"
option is greyed out. Ctrl+V doesn't work either. It makes
me think, for some reason, nothing from the text screen (the
command line is really the text screen also) is getting to
the Windows clipboard. Really frustrating to be unable to
understand why it won't work now.

You don't need to "right click" - F2 and highlight what you want to
copy. Go to edit at top and click "copy".

Thanks for the suggestion but the cotton pick'n thing still
won't work. I give up. My last resort is to pray for
Divine intervention.

I do not understand that at all. When you highlight the item in the
screen menu (F2) you should be able to to go Edit at the top and pick
"copy" and it should be on your clipboard. Confusing.
