Most likely the file you are trying to open has been saved in the 2004.dwg
format (used by AutoCAD 2004 and 2005). You need to ask the person that
created the file to save it as a 2000.dwg format for you.

Hi kennylam
a dwg in 2002 or 2004 or 2005 ,and then you open at autocad 2000,the machine
would said "drawing file was created by an incompatible version"....
or different version or too higher version.

2000, 2000i & 2002 share the same DWG format... where 2004 & 2005 are at a
newer format.
The OP has a drawing created in either 2004 or 2005 or one of the vertical
products based on 2004/2005.
