MDL load at startup |
|
|
I recently downloaded a draughting tool called sscloud v8 and now
everytime i start up microstation i get the error message "could not
load sscloud" in the Microstation V8 Edition Text Window, which is
becoming quite annoying can anyone tell me how to stop microstation
trying to load this mdl at startup. Any help would be much
appreciated. Regards, Peter

'Workspace', 'Configuration'. Select the 'Design Applications' category and
remove the MDL if it is there

Hello Peter,
I've read on the viecon ng that sscloud-v8 is doing this in 8.5 uStn.
Somewhere in your config files (probably your ucf) is a line similar to:
MS_DGNAPPS > SSCLOUD
which you can delete this line from the file in a texteditor.
I do not recommend using uStn's Workspace > Config dlog to remove it, this
will cause uStn to re-write your ucf, the re-write will list all
currently-loaded dgnapps except sscloud in your ucf. If your install
currently loads MDLs at system, site or appl-level (such as TriForma, Iplot
or the new pdf-maker (a subset of Iplot)), this re-write is not desirable.
IMO you are much better off finding the exact config file where sscloud is
loaded (check the ucf first, then use -debug if it's not in the ucf) and
manually deleting the line in a texteditor.
HTH,

I'm slightly surprised at your concern at using the provided Workspace tool.

Was that written w/ tongue in cheek? |
I've got no prob w/ using Wrkspc>Config to look at/for cfgvars while uStn is
running. But it is rarely the best place to create/edit cfgvars. The dlog
can only write to the active ucf file. Using it to edit is (sometimes)
acceptable, if one is running vanilla uStn on a stand-alone install.
But it's not so fine if one's local or network config is massaged, if the
install uses network resources, if EC's & other add-ons are loaded, if one
uses >1 ucf, etc. Many cfg problems I've seen (or created for myself) are
due to enthusiastic use of the Wrkspc>Config dlog to edit vars (in the ucf)
that properly live in sys, site, app or proj-level cfg files.
Best regards,
jM
