Bentley trying to kill this board? |
|
|
I don't know about anybody else but I feel like Bentley is trying to
kill this discussion group. I don't use their discussion groups
because it seems overwhelming and time consuming to follow on a
regular basis. It also seems to me that they use this site to plug
their board every opportunity that they get. I have post questions
before only to have Bentley's people send me an email as a reply
rather than posting a return reply on Google. This allows them to
access users and plug their site without adding valuable content to
this site. The more they plug their site here the more alienated with
them I become. I urge you to continue using this site, to express your
opinions of this subject HERE! And, if someone from Bentley answers
your post via an email; Post it yourself, here! Come on Bentley you
can't control everything.

Hello Roger,
First of all, Google is simply a provider of information and does not
control this nor any other USENET newsgroup. USENET has over 14,000
newsgroups that are maintained, archived and distributed by on-line services
such as Google.
| Quote: | I don't use their discussion groups

|
How so? Have you tried the new web-interface?
http://discussion.bentley.com/

|
As part of USENET, comp.cad.microstation is a public and un-moderated forum
and it would be impossible for Bentley to kill it as you describe.
| Quote: | It also seems to me that they use this site to plug their board every

Well sure, why not? Being moderated, the Bentley newsgroups are free of
trolls, don't have advertisements for tasteless pornography, arn't spamed
with adverts for warez and are an excellent source for technical
information.
| Quote: | I have post questions before only to have Bentley's people send me an email

The question here is, did you get the information you were looking for?
| Quote: | Come on Bentley you can't control everything.
|
This has nothing to do with control. No one controls this or any other
USENET forum.
By the way, you may find Bentley's discussion groups of interest. Over there
you
can meet other users of Bentley products, exchange ideas, and discuss a wide
range of technical subjects. These groups are an excellent technical
resource for all users of Bentley products and services. Hope to see you
there! http://discussion.bentley.com/

Yes I've used the site or I wouldn't have spoken my opinion.

Will Bentley continue to monitor this group once people finally stop
posting here and use Bentley's site exclusively? You can kill this by
urging everyone to use the Bentley site all the time, eventually no
one will post here anymore, everyone (but me) will be on the Bentley
site. Once there is no other viable option and Bentley has everyone
congregated, then they'll start charging.

Moderated... Guess we wouldn't be having this conversation over there
then would we? BTW I've never heard of tasteful pornography... Ignore

Yes I did. Did other users of this board in which I posted my question
benefit from it? No they did not! Is this not the intent of this
board? I believe it is.

I did not say that Bentley was trying to control the USENET forum,

it works.

Here I gave them yet another opportunity to plug their site.
To the members of the discussion group:
After a few years of AutoCad I was assigned an Intervue station, some
of the old timers might remember what that is. I've watched Bentley
grow to what it is today and I'm impressed and un-impressed at the
same time. I do have a great amount or respect for Inga and am a
member of her site as well. I never thought that she would be able to
maintain her site since she is Bentley. As far as Bentley is
concerned, I've never thought much of governing bodies and they are
really starting to look like one. Can you say MicroSoft? Seems to me
that's the bullish attitude we are facing today.

One other thing since Bentley's newsgroups are moderated they will
delete any posts they do not agree with. I have seen several posts

All posts that contain MS_OTWREG_NOCHECK = 1 have been deleted from
the Bentley Newsgroups, Eventhough searching MS_OTWREG_NOCHECK returns
results when I looked at the post detail none of them related to the
Microstation registration.
Users that do not want to register do not have an option. If they do
not register they get a dialog asking them to do so everytime
Microstation is started. After several complaints from frustrated
users I decided to use the undocumented variable, Prior to this I was
editing the registry for those that prefered not to register with
Bentley.

So Inga,
trolls and advertisement and porn is really not a problem here. It is
also just what he explained in his original post. Bently is attempting to
CONTROL. Trolls sometimes bring up interesting points..

Hello Roger,
First of all, Google is simply a provider of information and does not
control this nor any other USENET newsgroup. USENET has over 14,000
newsgroups that are maintained, archived and distributed by on-line services
such as Google.
I don't use their discussion groups
because it seems overwhelming and time consuming to follow on a
regular basis.
How so? Have you tried the new web-interface?

I feel like Bentley is trying to kill this discussion group.
As part of USENET, comp.cad.microstation is a public and un-moderated forum
and it would be impossible for Bentley to kill it as you describe.
It also seems to me that they use this site to plug their board every
opportunity that they get.
Well sure, why not? Being moderated, the Bentley newsgroups are free of
trolls, don't have advertisements for tasteless pornography, arn't spamed
with adverts for warez and are an excellent source for technical
information.
I have post questions before only to have Bentley's people send me an email
as a reply rather than posting a return reply on Google.
The question here is, did you get the information you were looking for?
Come on Bentley you can't control everything.
Hope to see you
there! http://discussion.bentley.com/ |

Never hold your farts in.
They travel up your spine, into your brain, and that
is where shitty ideas come from!!!!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ..... :-)
Thanks for ccm because I am sure you can't post it in the Bentley
newsgroup.
You will receive a counter post from Phil Chouinard or Jon Summers
saying:

It really depends on the path from your ass to your brain. You should
put some error checking routine in between to make sure that they
follow the correct algorithm or it might go out of your mo_th. |

I searched for "hatch color" on this group and found several entries
of discussion matching my needs... Within 2 minutes....
What I found:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&safe=active&q=hatch+color&meta=group%3Dcomp.cad.microstation.*
I went to Bentley's board, searched all groups, and couldn't find one
entry that matched what I was looking for. After looking for about 5
minutes I quit.
It's not that I mind change or a challenge, those who know me can tell
you that I thrive on them. But, after all this I now have a
headache.... |
