Authorization problems |

Can someone out there give me an alternate email addy to send for an authorization code?
Here we are 6 months plus after the 2005 releases, and on-line registration still doesn't work for subscriptions. It says to select "not an upgrade" and not to enter an old serial number for subscriptions, then fails and says that the old serial number is invalid.
So you tell the authorization page to send in the file, and it comes back with a message that it couldn't send the file. (Maybe it works if you use Outlook for email? We don't, and I won't.)
Next the page gives you the location of a file on your hard drive, saying to attach the file to an email to such-and-such address. Note that I KNOW ahead of time that I'm going to have to do this, but you have to go step-by-step to this point for that file to be created.
The first couple times I did this I got back a code, but the return email also said I should send to "authcodes@autodesk.com" instead. So I've been sending there instead, and you get a FAST response!
Unfortunately, the FAST response doesn't have a code, it just says that I'll get a slow response - within 2 business days. Right. I got that on the 19th, and I'm still waiting.
So I should try by phone, right? Well, I have done that a couple of times. By the time I get home, where the currently pending authorization iinstalled, they're not open. OK, I'll try from the office and write everything down!
Have you ever tried to read off a gazillion alphanumeric codes to someone, then write down the gazillion they give you back, all the while trying to decipher British-English spoken with a heavy sub-continent accent? It only takes one error either way and you've wasted an hour.

Did you logon to the subscription pages to be sure you're using the same
serial number Autodesk has listed for you?
We had some intermittent problems along the line but they were quickly
sorted out. But in general automatic authorization for subscription versions
has worked well for us, and I'm talking about close to 50 installed seats.

I am using the correct serial number. The same ones as on the box, on last year's box, and on the subscription site. It isn't the current serial number that the site says is bad, it's the OLD number. The one that doesn't get entered if you're on subscription. The authorization page says NOT to enter a serial number, and later says that the number is bad.
I have had the problem with our Map 3D seats, with our Land, Civil, Survey, Raster, and LT seats. Not once has on-line authorization worked.

I just finished authorizing a 7 seat deployment in an outside office.
I tried online registration and indeed it did puke at the old serial number, I had the option of sending the report to customer service and I did so.
Just in case you were correct I also called the 1-800 number to obtain the license file.
While I was on the phone my license file arrived in my inbox before I could finish the phone call.
Sometimes Autodesk does actually do something right. |

I have received a couple emails from AutoDesk people this afternoon, and I sent the XML file containing the request codes to one of them. Nothing else back yet, but we'll see tomorrow.
BTW, I sent in 2 auth requests on the 19th. One came back in a couple hours, the other not yet. And I checked my "sent" folder just to make sure I didn't do my usual stupe move, forgetting to attach the file! |

I had the same experience. Although a new license/sn of Survey and a
new license/sn of Civil did go through, all of my sn's purchased at
earlier releases failed. Same thing happened last year at about this
time.
I found the 1-800 authorization support to be exceptional. Real live
human, right away. Simple authentication questions. Instant
transmission of the license files to my inbox Next year, I don't
think I'll even going to bother trying the on-line method; it wasted
too much of my time for the last two years.
I know that Autodesk is extremely piracy-conscious, but as a
subscription customer I'm not happy with the online authorization
process. Why can't I just authenticate to the subscription website,
check off the licenses I want authorization for, enter a host and MAC,
and click on "Send"?

| Cool! I got in this morning and found 2 emails from AutoDesk waiting. Each one had an authorization code included. The 2 codes are both generated from the same XML, but are completely different. This should be fun... |
