I'm a little slow this morning so I'm not quite sure exactly what you need
to know. So I'll answer in general for a network deployment having an
istalation image and network license residing on a server

You will need 1 instalation disk.

You will need to create a network deployment on the server. Directions can
be found from a link on the instalation screen that appears when you inset
disk 1.

You will need a network license from autodesk covering the number of users
you want to use the software at one time. If you want 7 your will have to
pay the price of seven seats.

2005 can be installed over the network using the image on the server. You
can install it as many times as you want. The number of installations that
will function at one time will be controlled by the network license.

Excuse me if I'm covering issues that you are already familiar with but you
said it was urgent. Hopefully someone can chime in with more information. I
know this is not the only way to install across a network but this is what
we use and I'm familiar with.

Joseph,
If I understand your question, you can install on as many desktops as you like. As long as you have just one license, only one will be able to activate it at a time, so you are covered. I would think you might run into some hot users though with only 1 license to share between 13 people!
Good luck,
Jay

Hi Allen!!
Thanks for your reply. my main concern is regarding the licensing. when i contacted the resller in our region, they are telling that, i need to buy same number of autocad 2005 software and client license for this purpose. ie, if i want to access in 5 systems simultenously, then i need to buy 5 autocad 2005 software and 5 client license.

This is little bit confusing me.., if i am installing the software in server , then why i need 5 product license?

if know about the solution for this please update me

thanks

OK. You will need however many licenses as you wish to have seats run
concurrently. If you have 7 users but are sure that no more than 5 will be
using cad at once you will need to license 5 seats. You will get 1 (one)
license file from autodesk. As the users open AutoCAD the licensing software
will keep track of how may licenses are issued. Once 5 are opened the person
who might open the 6th seat will get a message that there are no available
licenses. Theoretically you could install AutoCAD on 100 computers but only
be able to use 5 at a time.

If you have 7 people working full time on cad and none working only some of
the time you are not getting any benefit from using a network installation.

You will need to buy the 5 seats of the license. You will get 1 installation
disk to use in setting up the network deployment. After the FlexLM network
license manager software is installed on your server you will need to
contact autodesk, either through the web, e-mail or phone. You will then get
1 license file. This license file will contain the 5 network seat licenses.

What I have now is 14 computers with autodesk products on them. My (1)
license file contains the following:

8 seats of Land Desktop
6 seats of Civil Design
2 seats of Survey
2 seats of Raster Design
1 seat of Viz

In order to transition slowly to 2005 I combined the 2005 license file with
my 2004 license file so that either release can be run from the same file.

I hope this helps you in understanding the network licensing.
Have a Happy

Allen

Joseph,
If you want all 7 persons to be able to have AutoCAD running at the same time, you will need to purchase 7 licenses. If you just wish to have it available for 7 people, but only one active at any given time, then you simply need 1 license.

There's a newly updated guide to the different license types here:
