Hello,
I am new to the Virtuoso Spectre Simulator Environment.
I followed the following steps:
1. Created a new library
2. Did not attache any tech file
3. Created a cell-view
4. Had a small functional circuit using available models from analog
library of cadence
5. Saved
6. Tried netlist-run
7. Got the following messages
- Simulator opened.. successful
- Problem encountered during simulation.

What do I make out of this ?
Thank you.

To be honest NOTHING there can be hundred of problems,
and the simulator usually tells you exactly what kind of
problem it exactly is either in your CDS.log file you see
it in the Command Interpreter Window or in the Spectre out file.

Watch out these files and give a more detailed description of the
problem.

Perhaps you don't have the required patches and the simulator is falling over
right at the beginning, before it had a chance to write to the log file or
communicate with DFII.

Go the simulation directory, and then navigate down to the psf directory for
this design. Look at the spectre.out - if that doesn't exist, try going back up
into the netlist directory and running the runSimulation script - that might
reveal why you have a problem.

Regards,

Andrew.
