AutoCAD Registry error |

We get the following error on a computer that does not have Power user or
Administrative rights on our domain computer:
" On start-up: Failed to update the system registry. Please try using
REGEDIT."
AutoDesk says to make the user part of the power user group on the local
machine. Doing this allows user to install software on their machines, but
we do not want users to do this. Is there a way to a registry setting to
remedy this situation? Thanks.

I had the same problem. Assuming you're using Windows 2000, go into
Control Panel (as Administrator), open "Users & Passwords", click "Add",
and type the username and for the domain use whatever your domain is.
Doing this fixed the problem here.

After 2 hours of hair pulling, finally got it to work, sorry by posting in many different placesbecause I hope others don't have to go thru what I had been
Instruction for install and run AutoCAD 2002 LT as regular users
- The following method would only work on the Users that install the program
1. Set the user that going to run this program to Local Admin Group
2. Login him as him and install the AutoCAD 2002 LT
3. Run AutoCAD once
4. Give full control to regular Users on C:\Program Files \ AutoCAD2002LT
5. RUN -> regedit and make the following permission to Users
6. HKLM\software\Autodesk
7. HKLM\system\CUrrentCOntrolSet\Control\Session\EnvirmentVariable
8. HKCR\AutoCADLTDrawing
9. HKCR\AutoCADDrawing.15
10. HKCR\AUtoCADDrawingLT.15
11. HKCU\software\AutoDesk *if there’s no Users to select, add one by \\YourComputeName\Users
Note, above method will only work if the AutoCAD 2002 LT has never been installed on the system,
If it has already been installed, the following works for me
1. Set the following folder/key permission to Users
2. HKLM\software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Windows yes, the whole windows folder
3. In HKCR, All Keys/folders that has AutoCAD in front of it
4. Do Search in the registry for the following key one by one and set ALL the result’s permission to Users
5. 4D3263E4, 83836783, 783EC6B9 |

Hi,
This is great! I have had this problem for a wile. Is is possible to apply this method with the small change of give full control promotions of these reg keys to the domain user group for users that move around from work station to workstation frequently
