Centering plots with Oce TDS400 |
|
|
We just got a TDS400, and I'm having trouble getting plots sized and
centered correctly. We work with a number of architects, all of whom
have different title blocks -- some have borders, some do not, some
include a binding allowance, etc. All our drawings are model space only
and are scaled (ie., 1/8" drawing plot with a scale factor of 96). With
the ink jet we replaced we'd pick a paper size, select center the plot
in Autocad, sometimes reset the x offset if the binding margin wasn't
included in the title block frame, and get perfectly sized and centered
plots. With the Oce we are currently having to add tick marks in two
opposite corners in the printable area (ie, at 1/10" [plotted] inside
the paper boundary) to get the plot centered. If we don't add the tick
marks the paper size will be wrong and/or the plot will center on the
printed area rather than the paper dimension on one or both directions.
I'm thinking this is a settings conflict. We set up a separate .pc3 for
each of the paper sizes we use (24 x 36, 30 x 42, and 36 x 48). The
custom settings we're using for 24 x 36 include:
Print mode : standard
Mirror : no mirror
Origin : lower right
Auto-rotation : off
Fit method : next larger
Auto format : on
Cutting method : standard size
Image alignment : center-center
No leading or trailing edge correction
Shifted 0.15" left, 0.00" up
Any suggestions on settings would be appreciated.

Which version of AutoCAD and which OCE printer driver?
We're using a TDS600 with R2005 and I could never get the OCE Windows System
Printer driver to work correctly with AutoCAD and R2005. Switching to the
OCE HDI driver that comes with AutoCAD resolved all our problems. I'll check
into the settings a little later. The big difference was that we were now
able to position our plots as expected, (but not with the default settings).

Thanks for your help.
I run full 2004 or 2005. The other guys here are on LT2002. The
drivers are labeled "Oce TDS400 1.x" in the add-a-plotter wizard.

'Sorry it took me so long to get back. The only major difference I see in
our settings is that we have Image Alignment set to Bottom Left. We also
don't shift the plots at all, but we have added .12" trailing edge, to get
the paper to cut correctly. We're using the Oce standard ARCH D size.

Thanks for the update. The local tech was by and reset several things,
which has fixed most of the problem.
