LPR vs. IP |
|

What is the reason that so many people seem to prefer creating a LPR port
vs. an IP port for printing? I can't see much difference.

Left to my own I generally create IP ports, but our OCE tech recently
suggested an LPR port for some issues we had, so that's what I did for our
TDS600. 'Don't know if it made a difference, but it works...

Re: LPR vs. IP |

This is the first time I had ever heard of LPR when we just bought our new
Oce TDS600's. Seems like LPR is the status quo when speaking with the Oce
folks. And I just couldn't figure out why. I run one TDS600 as a direct
printer over Novell with a NDPS queue (which points to an IP address on the
network), we also print to the machine direct via a local IP port installed
on the machine, and then Oce came along and set the thing up on an LPR port.
Couldn't tell much of a difference with any method...
