Bsic question on model/layout |

I have an AutoCad file that contains a project. in the model space it seems
plans (floor, foundation, roof, plumbing, ..etc.) are on top of each other.
In the layout space, each of these plans are shown in a diffrent viewport.
I want to edit the file so that I can expand on the floor plan. I am not
used to working on the layout space. How can I move back to the model
space, or how can I work from the layout mode.
