network license stuck on server for quiet a while |
|
|
Hi there Folks!
Hope I am posting this to the right group. The problem I am facing for the
last weeks is that some licenses are stucked on the license server.
We have a set of 3 license servers that deals AutoCAD 2004 and 3D Max 6
licenses to a group of users. This servers are on "redundant mode" so if the
master fails the other two can handle the licenses. I am almost sure that
the version of the license server is 8.3c, but i will have to check it with
the guys that have access to the server when they get back from lunch.
The problem only occurs with 3DMax 6 licenses. At first i thought the users
where running a very complex rendering that took some days, but one fine day
I saw that the license server LMTOOLS application showed a user using two
machines and it turned out that he wasn't.
So this is the problem: 3D Max licenses are getting stucked on the server
even though users are not using it or using licenses on the same computer.
Does anyone know what causes the problem? and more important than that, how
to solve it?
thank you all for the help!
Bernardo

I've seen the licenses of other acad products being checked out for months. Rebooting the server that the license manager is installed on seems to clear the licenses up.

This happens when for one reason or another the license manager does not
receive the release license packet from the application. You can resolve
the problem by setting TIMEOUT or TIMEOUTALL in your license manager options
file. Consult the FLEXlm documentation regarding proper options file
syntax. Also see http://support.autodesk.com/getDoc.asp?id=TS66703 for
information on creating an options file.

Option file keywords for AutoCAD 2004 will work the same way for max 6
license files. Similarly, AutoCAD 2005 and max 7 use the same FLEXlm
versions.
