I am working on a drawing where I have color coded boxes that are shaded to plot out in certain colors. In these boxes are designation tags that are hard to read when they plot in black. What I want to do is make the tags show up white when I plot the drawing. I have tried using white and 255 for the color of the tags. When I used white they still plotted black and when I used 255 you can't see them at all on the plot. I am using ACAD 2000. Any ideas?

If you want to plot white- generally white will plot to black - so you would need to go to a shade off white to plot out white - also make sure they are selected to front and you plot in greyscale or colour for this to work

Again, the boxes are color coded so I am plotting in color. I tried using color 255 but it didn't show up on the plot at all. I brought the tags to the front and everything else I could think of. Any other suggestions?

Check if lines merge or line overwrite.

What are your pen 255 settings in your plot style?
Can you post a sample file?

What do you mean by 'can't see them at all', with the tip described for 255,
it really does not plot anything, instead it leaves an area unplotted that
matches the entities set to pen 255.

Where do I find that in 2000? I knew how to check it in R14 but haven't had to deal with it yet in 2000. I never have any problems with my shades or anything so I didn't figure that was a problem.

Plotter--Properties--Graphics--Merge Control
If I recall 2000 did not have the merge control when it was first released. It may have been fixed with later patches or service packs.
Release 2002,2004,2005,2006 all have merge control.
