HP DesignJet 500 plot problem |
|
|
I have a HP DJ 500 installed which works fine with the default PC3. But when
I make a new pc3 file just with a user defined papersize and a paperfilter,
then most of the time the plot simply fails, somtimes it gets plotted after
several minutes.
Latest drivers installed
Any ideas?

We've had several issues with our 500 mostly involving long spool times and
failed plots.
As it turns out, our problem was the anti virus software scanning both the
pc page files, and the server page files. The delayed spool time was in
turn (we think), making the plotter "time out" and believing that it was out
of memory,
we changed the setting the software not to scan the page files, and it works
great, haven't had a single failed plot since. I have shared this
information with others of our trade and have discovered that anti-virus
software can cause a wide varity of interesting situations......I know it
sounds totally unrelated, but give it a try...

Paul, thanks for the tip!
I already had lots of issues with anti virus prgs and I'll check it
tomorrow, but I don't think this will be the solution this time as I'm able
to plot normally with the default PC3 but not with a modified one...
But I have a question: do you know if there is a difference in plotting when
the papersize is longer than 1.5 m? (this used to be a problem some years
ago and was called something like "long axis plot"
