covert plt to dwf |
|
|
Does anyone have a good way to convert plt files to dwf files.
I am currently using VB 6 & the scviewer.ocx that does the job but has
limitations. The earlier version of the scviewer converts all plt files to
8.5x11 dwf no matter what the size of the plt. The updated version of the
scviewer converts the plt files to the correct size dwf but names the sheet
name inside the dwf to Sheet1.
Can anyone help me out on this. My company has thousands of existing plt
files that would like to convert into dwf so plotting to a dwf from AutoCAD
will not do what I am looking for. I have also tried to use the 3rd Party
apps AcroPlot, etc... and these are to combursome for the everyday user. I
am looking for a simple way to convert.
I am open to any ideas. Thanks in advance for your help.

Check out the Batch Exporter. I'm not sure that it will do what you want,
but I can tell you that their HPGL2 viewer works very well, in my opinion.
The problem you may have is that I think the PLT files must be HPGL2 for
conversion/viewing.
Note that I have not yet tested the PLT->DWF conversion, yet, but was
planning to, soon.

And quite the opposite, does anyone know of a good util to convert from dwf
to plt? Batch publishing to dwf is pretty darn easy using either the
publisher or sheet set manager, yet i've yet to find an easy way to batch
create plot files. Either approach seems to keep overwriting the first file.

I think you are missing what I am trying to do. I already have the Plt
files and need to convert those to dwg. I can not use AutoCAD's tools to
accomplish this.

Simple just create a form containing the dwf control and print them. Look
for my articles at CADalyst magazine for automating the dwf control.

Chris,
You may want to check out http:\\www.plotstream.com for creating PLT, DWF,
TIFF, etc. and for plotting directly to printers and plotters. It is server
based so drawings can be processed quickly, without tying up your
workstation. Look for the free download so you can try it for yourself.

Great Articles. Is it possible to automate the drag & drop method of the
DWF Composer. I am trying to make 1 dwf file out of 100 dwf files. It it
is possible can you point me in the right direction.
Thanks for your help & keep writing the those articles they are very
informative.

Not sure, I haven't looked into that. You can look in the composer ng -
there might be info in there.
