Dear subscribers

I'm working for a school that uses AutoCAD in their education. We have just
updated from ADT 2004 to ABS 2005 and have some problems with the deployment
of the new version.

The deployment of ABS 2005 is made by using Windows AD group policy where
the image is created using the Network Installation Wizard (NIW). The group
policy assigns ABS to the computer (not to the user) and this part of the
installation works just fine. The problem occurs when a non-privileged user
tries to run ABS 2005 for the first time. What happens then is that a minor
installation/configuration process starts which will configure ABS's user
dependent settings. This installation procedure continues for about a minute
before it fails. The error messages are available on the links below. Note
that if the user has local admin privileges there are no problems
whatsoever, ABS starts without trouble.

Actually ADT 2004 have the same problem, i.e. it does not install easily for
users without admin privileges but for ADT 2004 the procedure above actually
works, i.e. ADT 2004 is assigned to the computer and is then completed with
user specific configuration at the user's first start. The method of
deployment was developed with Autodesk assistance. The problem is that the
same procedure doesn't work with ABS 2005 and I hope that I maybe can get
some help with this issue here.

I would like to point out that since we're a school it's not feasible, for
obvious reasons, to grant administrative privileges to all student accounts.

If you want more detailed information I have MSI-logs available for both the
successful and failed case.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards, Ola Theander
