does anybody know why HP can not fix these paper sizes? what is the latest size "format"? the reason why im asking is that i've saved 11x17 scaled to fit in all our drawings for easier printing. when we updated the drivers, the saved setup was looking for the old "Tabloid" format. So its dropping the paper size and does not automatically grab the next 11x17 but goes to custom which does not give me the same plot as before.

im redoing our setup but if i choose any of these, there is a risk that the same name will not appear or maybe be slightly different when we upgrade to newer drivers and cause it to drop it again.

ive worked around the problem of large sizes by creating our company name large format sizes. so it grabs it whether i change driver or change plotter for that matter since our plotter name is also generic.

ive tried adding custom (company name) sheets for 8.5x11 and 11x17 but since im using the windows drivers to create my pc3's, im only allowed to custom one and it does not even allow me to rename the paper size to make it company generic.

does anybody have any suggestions on this? thanks in advance

Why not create a custom PC3 file for each size sheet?

thanks dean. but doesn't that still ask me to pick a paper size from whatever is available from the current driver? that is what we were doing.

for large sizes
company plotter.pc3
company plotter.pmp
company 30x42
company 24x36 etc

for small sizes
company laser.pc3 (HP)
company laser.pmp
11x17, Tabloid, B, etc
Letter, A, etc

is the same for
company laser 11x17.pc3
11x17, Tabloid, B, etc (?)

If you add PC3 files that call driver specific sheet sizes or names, every
time you introduce a new printer or plotter, you avoid having to make
further selections when plotting, since your option is preset: nothing
should 'ask you' about anything to do with the paper size.

One PC3 file for letter, one for tabloid etc. for each printer and plotter
you got.

Allow the user to pick a PC3 file that works without their need to hunt for
a page size too.

thanks dean but ive decided to just pick a set and then go with it. having separate pc3s just for sizes would just make it too many considering i already have 14 pc3s per office.
