I've been using a solid hatch that I screen down to oh, say 30%. It comes out great on my plotter but when I send it to my local blueprint sometimes it doesn't come out right. They said I need to request the .plt file be plotted "grayscale."

I don't understand this . Can someone explain?

It means that their plotter must be "told" to plot shades of gray (or
"screened" shades). Just do as they ask, and they'll probably accommodate.
