Plotting from AutoCAD 2005 to a HP DesignJet 650c on file. Plotter is set for 16.7 million shades of grey at 600dpi. The plot should print 30X60 but cuts short at 48inches. At 300dpi the plot is complete. The problem does not appear to happen when plotting from 2004 or 2006.

Do you need 16.7 million shades of gray?

Can a HP 650c actually plot 600 dpi? It has been a long time since I used
one but I thought it was limited to 300 dpi. It sounds like the plot being
generated from ACAD 2005 is to big for the plotter to handle. Have you tried
setting it to process on the computer instead of the plotter via the print
driver?

Choices are limited. 16.7 grey, 16.7 color, 255 virtual pens, which does not hold line weights, or 2 colors grey. DWG is plotted to a file to be used in Reprodesk. Hp 650c hdi driver.

Try the HP700 driver instead, or the HP600, if all you do is grayscale.

The problem seems to be tied to a polygon viewport. Making the viewport rectangular or dumping the dpi to 400dpi or lower in the driver solves the problem. The problem occurred also when plotting to other drivers eg: xerox 8855, adobe pdf. This does not seem to be an issue with AutoCAD 2004 or 2006.
