I have a HPDesginJet 430c... and I'd like to know how much memory is in it so I can upgrade if possible.

How can I tell how much memory I have in it?

I just popped open the back and there are two simms installed... the furthest back is labeled:

C3190-20104 and is about a 1 inch tall simm

(this number is NOT in my plotter manual as an upgrade part)

the closest has no serial number just numbers on the chips, of which have no meaningful serials or markings

(leads me to beleive this is the original chip)

anyone?

I am not familiar with that specific model but with the 650, 750, 800, 1050,
& 2500 models you could press two buttons on the front panel at the same
time to print a configuration. The buttons were labeled on the front panel.
Of course if this plotter came with all the default equipment from the
factory with no upgrades you could check the spec sheet on HP's website for
that model plotter.

What Tripp says.

But looking up HP's website, there is no 430c, only a 430 that does black
only and a 450c that is black and color.

Which one do you have?

Either way, they both come standard with 4MB of ram, but could have as much
as 36MB.

Ahh. I see.

HP's site does have a pdf of the manual (look under "Support" and plug in
"designjet 430") for the 430/450c/455 that tells you how to print out a
setup page (I think it was something like hit the "Load Paper" button, then
"Setup" button, but I can't remember now). That will print out a page that
includes the info on how much ram is installed.
