I have a script to plot drawings, that occasionally doesn't plot the whole
drawing. Some data is missing. The script closes the drawing after the plot
command. I suspect it is closing quicker that the plot is able to complete?
I know I can test removing the close command, but it is intermittent, and I
do like the automatic close. Does anyone have any suggestions? The same
script worked fine before the upgrade to 2005 btw.

You can pause the script for up to 30 seconds.
You can also not have it close anything, just plot, and use the free
Scriptpro program to open and close files for you:
