need some help for HP750C |
|
|
Aloha, sportsfans:
I have been given a task and I figure this is a good a place to start as
anywhere else.
Right now, we have a HP750C Designjet as our plotter, but it is hooked up
right now by parallel port. My boss wants to convert it to where it can
hooked up to any of our network hub via NIC card. So obviously, my question
is this:
Can this be done, and if so, can someone point me in the right direction so
I can get this thing done? I have been searching the HP website, but it is
a lot of information to go through to find what I need. I am hoping someone
did something either like this or similar to this to where they can at least
give me opening pointers to send me in the right direction.
Thanks

I used a Netgear PS110 printer servers to connect the ink jet plotter we
had to our network. HP has cards and adapters, but they're more
expensive, and the one time I tried to set one up I never got it working
well -- the HP JetDirect unit I had supported several different
protocols and setting it up was very convoluted. The Netgear printer
server is much easier to configure. $86.99 at www.newegg.com.

The 750 has a slot in the back for a jetdirect card, which you can either
get from most of the vendors or you can look on Ebay...I picked up 2 of them
there for cheap..(And yes they work) You can probably get away with a
10baseT one, which should be cheaper. The 100BaseT speed would be wasted on
the 750 anyway.
