We recently purchased the HP multi-roll feeder with a 1055cm plotter. Roll 3 is constantly misaligning when the machine refeeds itself, HP has been here twice with no luck.
Has anyone had any experience with this product?

I've setup three myself for clients, one did have that problem but I forced
the local HP dealer to provide a new multi-roll feeder after several service
calls did not correct the problem.

But, I bought this locally from a dealer, not from HP direct: I find them
lacking in the concept of 'customer service'.

We too have had several problems with alignment with our multi-roll feeder.
One possible reason that HP threw out was paper compatibility (which I can
see is possible with most glossy, trace and canvas type rolls...but with
Translucent and vellum?!...I'm not so sure about that). Unfortunately when
you attach a multi-roll feeder, this disengages the single sheet loader
which we utilized often, plus we needed to use the several types of paper
that were not (according to HP) compatible with the multi-roll device. I can
see how usefull the multi-roll feeder can be when you're printing out
different sizes of translucent/vellum, or when you're doing large volume
batch plots (so you don't have to swap out rolls when one runs out), but
with different paper types...forget about it. So we removed it from the
plotter and it now sits in our sample room collecting dust. Anyone want to
buy it?

We have two of them and can use only 90 - 120 grams coated paper; everything else fails. Disappointing. I believe the Oce TCS400 is a better product at this point.

Thanks for the replies, We have been "escalated" to a "tier 3 technician" who is supposed to arrive today with more parts to try. The previous two techs had never seen the multi-roll feeder before so hopefully they will be able to get it fixed. The top roll loads every time, the middle roll 90% of the time, the bottom roll fails about every third or forth feed.

I tried to buy two of those from my reseller and he refused to sell them to me.
Said that they had so much trouble trying to service them that he didn't want me using it.
I thanked him and took his advise.

This was the first one our reseller has sold. We've had several HP plotters and have had good luck with them so we gave it a shot. Maybe it was designed by the same team that design the paper bin for the 1050?

When we had the paper bin in front of the plotter, it always made it look
pregnant for some reason.
